DIY Decorate Your Clothes

Upcycling Can be Simple

Sometimes many people think that enhancing clothing means a major reconstruction. Upcycling garments does not have to be drastic and painful; it can be very simple, and the results can be amazing!

Take this red top - it really is P-L-A-I-N.

Print & Embroider

I decided to do some printing and embroidery. Last year, Miriam of Mimi Faktur, gifted me a Christmas box and inside were these delightful handmade print tools.  Thank you, Miriam!

What You Will Need

Acrylic or fabric paint
Rubber stamp (I also used a cotton bud)
Plastic sheet or bag

Embroidery thread and needle
Embroidery hoop

This took me less than 3 hours.

Stamp Your Design onto Garment

I found it useful to use the cotton bud to apply the paint onto the stamp. If you dip it into the paint instead, make sure you remove any excess paint. Remember to put a plastic sheet underneath the garment to prevent any paint from seeping through.

The cotton bud can be a stamp too!

Embroider

After letting the paint dry, I started my embroidery. I used a simple running stitch.  There wasn't any design in mind but I did go crazy with it. I was thinking about star gazing - in some ways this is what star gazers see when they look at the stars.

It Looks Different Now!

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
