Last weekend was extremely productive as I finished my upcycled jean necklace and got the glowing/flickering sorted out with the Arduino; definitely much better than having real diamonds :-) Will be posting a tutorial soon!
This week's Greeny Crafter is Tiffany Loy of Parasolbag. She makes bags upcycled from off-cuts, and I first saw her products at the The Made in SG Market. Tiffany makes all the bags herself, and by hand! Read more about her work below.

Hello! I was trained in industrial design, so my approach in textile-based projects is probably quite different from that of a textile of fashion designer. I started off making bags from fabric fresh from the roll, but soon realised that since the supplier also makes outdoor shades, it made sense to use their off-cuts instead. In the process of producing parasols and awnings, oddly-shaped and small pieces of fabric are often left unused. These are collected and sewn into Parasolbags.
Parasolbag is one of the projects I pursue as a designer:tiffanyloy.com. The making of each Parasolbag requires the process of piecing together the (sometimes) odd-shaped fabric, which may take some time, if the idea is to minimise wastage. And since the construction of each bag varies, and there's no standard template, the work hours are also difficult to predict.
