This refashion took me a little longer than expected. In between managing the house, getting my son to school on time and doing some work, the project had to be spread over a couple of days, but in the end I made it!
I had some lovely off-cut fabric from China Town. The aunty (in Asian culture we call anyone who is older than us an aunty or an uncle) shopowner told me that somehow the fabric wasn't printed properly, but I didn't care, it looked gorgeous and snapped it up at a sale price of $5 per yard from the original $20.
When I got home, it got buried in my craft drawer. I had committed the sin of not thinking ahead when I made the purchase - I didn't know what I would be using it for. So it sat there for a while and then "ding!" I decided it would look lovely with my black refashioned top. This was one of my first refashions.
The black top became a singlet and then I sewed the off-cut into a tube before attaching it under the new singlet.
I then sewed on some embellishments and then added some pockets using the sleeves of the black top [I'll be putting up a tutorial later]. Voila! It was easy as pie!
very cute, agy! :) lisa

ReplyDeleteCute refashion! Thanks for linking up to the Upcycled Linky Party at http://love2upcycle.blogspot.com/2013/04/upcycled-linky-party-6.html
ReplyDeleteI am visiting you from Adorned From Above. This is a cute idea. Sometimes I have tops that have gotten too short that I end up not wearing. I have loads of fabric in my stash waiting to be used. I will have to get on this!
ReplyDeleteI love the bling. Can't wait to see the pockets.
ReplyDeleteCute! I love clothes that are remade into a different fashion. I like to take my sewing machine out every now and then to sew away. Saw you at the Adorned Party and wanted to check out the new dress.
ReplyDeleteCute! I love the fabric you used for the skirt part of the dress, and the bling is cute too!
