Greeny Crafter 17 - EcoDidier

I don't know what's happening! Been taking lots of vitamin C but I still fell sick - down with flu or some variant of it!

Made from tires!

Let me introduce fellow Singaporean, Didier of EcoDidier. She's been doing all sorts of crafty things since she's been young - she preferred boxes to dolls - and loves creating so she went to Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore to study product industrial design where she equipped herself with the skills to expand her creativity.  Didier says she loves the challenge of making rubbish come alive, creating the surprise element!

Lamps from bottles

Didier says that as a city, Singapore has an abundance of waste to flaunt her creativity.  She usually starts a project with the available material eg plastic bottles, brochures, expired curtain catalogs, expired laminate samples etc.  Then she'll start looking around, being observant, collecting all different ideas and reapplying these ideas to her creations! She has a just do it attitude and enjoys experimenting to understand the properties of the material and how to best use them.

I asked Didier what she thought are her best projects to date.  She was a little cheeky with her reply -  "Erm seriously the best ? It just gets better!"  She says she loves her plastic bottle chandelier displayed at Changi City Point and the Kiehl's container pouch. If you want to check out all her creations, you can visit her FB page or her website

Smart!
How awesome!!
Didier also uses her creativity to work closely with the cottage industries imparting her skills to places such as the Simei Care Centre, leprosy homes, homemakers, Christian outreaches, the handicapped etc.  It's another challenge she loves, having to design to cater to their ability to produce.

This is one creative lady!
